Setting Menus, Permalinks and Homepage Location

This depends on experience with WordPress, basically if you create your WordPress site from the beginning you need to follow the steps below, otherwise if you any of import demo content sites then homepage, menus and permalinks will be set up automatically.

Kalium contains two menu locations: Main and Mobile menu. Mobile menu is optional, so once you set up the Main menu it will be also used on mobile unless you specify a different one for mobile menu. To assign a menu firstly create one in Appearance > Menu section:

Then go to Manage Locations tab on the same page and assign the menu you have created to the Main menu or Mobile menu:

Setting homepage

Go to Settings > Reading section to setup custom/static homepage. In Front page displays option select A static page to show as homepage then choose pages:

Note: Only pages will be shown in the dropdown list: posts, portfolio items and products do not qualify for homepage item. For this, you can use a homepage redirect plugin such as mPress Custom Front Page.

Permalinks have an important role in SEO and the simplicity of URL’s of your pages. We recommend you to use Post name structure for your URL’s. Start going to Settings > Permalinks and set permalinks structure:

Note: This permalinks structure requires the mod_rewrite module to be installed on your hosting. Usually, this is installed on almost all hosting environments.
